Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Nov/Dec '02
Very good medium-deep red. Knockout Barolo nose in all its rustic splendor, showing everything from exotic fruits to smoke, game, tobacco, camphor and white truffle. Urgent, penetrating and supersweet, with nearly candied red fruit flavors saturating the palate. A youthfully aggressive wine that really needs a few years to calm down. Finishes with strong but fine tannins and great ripeness. 95(+?) points |

WS: A bright and fruity red with structure. Plenty of berry and leather on the nose, with just a hint of mineral. Full-bodied, with fine tannins and a long finish. Best after 2005. 1,450 cases made. –JS |

WA: The fabulous 1998 Barolo Falletto del Serralunga reveals intensity and volume. A dark plum color is accompanied by a classic Nebbiolo perfume of rose water, melted tar, truffles, and cherry jam. As the wine sits in the glass, aromas of spice box and cigar smoke also emerge. Full-bodied, dense, and powerfully tannic, yet extremely harmonious, it will be at its finest between 2008-2030.
