| 2007-07-13 08:15 | IWC: (2000 Bodegas Altanza Gran Reserva Rioja) ($45) Deep garnet color. Vanilla, mocha and cherry on the nose, with suggestions of tar, cedar and iron. Lush, silky and full, the dark cherry and licorice flavors showing a strong oak spice accent. Finishes on an exotic oak note, with lingering sweetness. The fruit came forward with aeration, so I'd decant this and serve it with a fatty piece of grilled meat. 87 points |
