WS: This lean, tightly wound young red Burgundy is a compact expression of kirsch, mineral and spice with vibrant acidity and tannins as a backdrop. Very pure and elegant, it requires patience. Best from 2007 through 2018. 600 cases made. –BS |

WA: The 2002 Beaune Clos des Mouches offers a nose of vanilla, fresh herbs, ginger, and spices. Medium-bodied, fleshy, spicy, and plush, it has excellent to outstanding depth. Sappy minerals dominate this effort’s flavor profile. Projected maturity: now-2010. |

IWC: Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Mar/Apr 05
($54) Medium red with some amber. Initially dull on the nose, but opened with air to show sweet raspberry and strawberry aromas. Sweet and supple on the palate, with fresh flavors of plum and redcurrant. Initially lacked a bit of cut and grip but seemed to gain in shape in the glass. Not especially rich but offers good supple texture and ripe finishing fruit. 88 points |
