IWC: By Stephen Tanzer
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Mar/Apr 07
($30; a blend of 63% syrah, 30% mourvedre and 7% grenache) Good full red. Redcurrant, spicecake and chocolate mint on the nose, lifted by a note of dried flowers. Suave, juicy and vinous, with good concentration of flavor in a medium-bodied package. More southern than northern Rhone in its red fruit and spicecake flavors, but not particularly fleshy or powerful. Subtly sweet, firmly structured and elegant, in need of a bit of bottle aging. Made by Eben Sadie of Columella fame. (Vinnovative Imports, Charlotte, NC) 89(+?) points |
