WA: The 2010 Heytesbury Chardonnay is another blockbuster for this wine. It offers classic Burgundian-method scents of judiciously used oak, brioche, ginger, toasted almonds and honeysuckle plus a touch of chalk dust over a core of peach kernel, lemon tart and grapefruit peel. The medium-bodied palate hits that magic sweet-spot of intense flavor coupled with an ethereal lightness and a lively yet seamless acid line that makes this wine incredibly “more-ish” (makes you want more!). It finishes with wonderfully persistent toast and spice layers. Tantalizingly drinkable yet awfully primary now, it should reward cellaring and drink to 2020+.
