Noteringar:
2008-05-27 10:48 WS: Displays subtle aromas of blackberry and raspberry. Full-bodied, with fine tannins and a pretty, silky finish of berry. Very beautiful. Refined and classy. Best after 2008. 8,000 cases made. –JS
2008-05-27 10:48 WA: The 2004 Magari, 50% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, is a rich, ripe effort. It offers notable concentration in its sweet dark fruit and toasted oak flavors, with excellent length and plenty of freshness on the finish. It is a stylish, highly enjoyable wine to drink now and over the next five to seven years. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2014. While Angelo Gaja continues to maintain a break neck pace even he can’t resist the more calming influence of the warmer Tuscan weather. I have never seen him as relaxed – if that is the right word – as he was when I paid him a visit at Ca’ Marcanda. “In Maremma we have a Mediterranean climate that allows for a more consistent maturation of the fruit than is possible in Piedmont. We also have an extraordinary diversity in terroirs, with at least eleven or twelve different soil types. Although we work mainly with French varietals we are not trying to make Bordeaux-style wines, rather we are trying to make wines that capture the full potential of Maremma.” Importer: Paterno Imports, Lake Bluff, IL; tel. 2008-05-27 10:49 IWC: By Ian D'Agata Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Sep/Oct 06 (50% merlot, 25% cabernet sauvignon, 25% cabernet franc) Deeper red-ruby color than the Promis. Multifaceted nose offers redcurrant, plum, coffee and licorice, along with a marked presence of black pepper. Very sweet and fleshy on the palate, with well-integrated acids framing the red cherry, plum and smoke flavors. Finishes long, with suave tannins and an impression of residual sweetness. 88(+?) points
