Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Issue #136, January/February 2008)
(Bosquet des Papes Chateauneuf du Pape) ($35) Dark red. Ripe red berries and cherry on the nose, with a complex array of garrigue and floral qualities adding complexity. Seems to have gained in weight and ripeness since last year, offering deep, rich raspberry and kirsch flavors and impressive finishing thrust. Really clings to the palate, leaving a trail of smoky red fruits and lavender in its wake. 91 points |

WA: The 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape exhibits the classic seaweed, salty ocean breeze-like notes intermixed with lavender, garrigue, kirsch, and spice. Dry tannins in the finish may give the wine some angularity with extended aging, but for drinking over the next 7-8 years, it is an attractive, traditional example of Chateauneuf du Pape.
This top-notch estate has been producing impressive, classic examples of Chateauneuf du Pape for over 25 years. All three cuvees are noteworthy efforts.
