Noteringar:
2008-10-09 11:24 WS: Crushed blackberry aromas, with lots of coffee and toasty oak, lead to a medium-to-full body, with polished, velvety tannins and a vanilla, berry and chocolate aftertaste. Best after 2012. 4,580 cases made. –JS
2008-10-09 11:25 WA: Classic aromas of blueberries, cedar, vanillin, black currants, and spring flowers jump from the glass of this dense purple-colored St.-Emilion. Broad, rich, jammy fruit flavors compete with the full-bodied, highly-extracted style that exhibits moderate tannin as well as excellent overall harmony and purity. This cuvee tends to be made in a dense, chewy style, and the 2005 may ultimately rival Grand-Mayne’s brilliant 1998. Anticipated maturity: now-2022. A sleeper of the vintage!
2008-10-09 11:25 IWC: By Stephen Tanzer Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, May/June 2008, Issue #138 (Chateau Franc Mayne Saint Emilion) ($40-$47) Good deep red-ruby. Mellow aromas of currant and coffee. Sweet, broad and supple, with open-knit, slightly jammy flavors of raspberry, coffee, mocha and spice. The tannins are ripe and broad, and the flavors linger nicely. Not an elegant style, but should offer considerable early satisfaction. (The young 2007 seemed a bit dominated by its acids and tannins but offered good chewy flavors of black cherry and licorice.) 89 points
