Noteringar:
2008-10-30 22:51 WS: Delivers aromas and flavors of ripe berries, flowers and dried porcini on a silky, medium-bodied palate. Compact, but slightly austere on the finish. Has bright acidity. Best after 2010. 3,250 cases made. –JS
2008-10-30 22:51 WA: The 2003 Brunello di Montalcino is a sleek, stylish effort very much in the style of consulting oenologist Carlo Ferrini. This mid-weight Brunello opens to reveal vibrant dark cherries, spices, menthol and licorice with a nice inner sweetness and freshness to its core. The tannins are firm, yet well-integrated into the wine’s fabric. Another year or two in bottle should help it come together. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2018. Poggio San Polo is a new property owned by Marilisa Allegrini, best known for the wines her family produces in Veneto, and importer Leonardo LoCascio, one of the early pioneers in importing high-quality Italian wines into the US. Winemaking is overseen by consulting oenologist Carlo Ferrini. A Leonardo Lo Cascio Selections, Winebow, Montvale, NJ; tel. (201) 445-0620
