WA: The 2006 Chardonnay “Summers” was barrel-fermented and aged in French oak with stirring of the lees. It reveals notes of toasty oak, butter, apple, pear, and a hint of tropical fruits. Smooth textured, ripe, and concentrated, it will drink well for 2-3 years. It is a very good value.
Grant Burge and Burge Family Winemakers have a familial but not philosophical connection. One is big, the other an artisanal, hands-on operation. Not that big is bad as this Grant Burge lineup demonstrated.
