WA (89-91): The dense ruby/purple-colored 2001 Hermitage Marquise de la Tourette (70% from Les Bessards and 30% from l’Hermite) displays a sweet perfume of creme de cassis and licorice, a stern personality, high tannin, and a touch of minerality. Patience will be required for this austere red. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2025. Importer: Maison Marques et Domaines, Oakland, CA; tel. (510) 286-2000 |

($68) Dark red. Strongly flinty aromas of dark berries, smoked meat, beefsteak tomato and bitter chocolate. Dense, juicy and penetrating, with vibrant flavors of red and black berries, gunflint, menthol, smoke, spice and pepper. Offers a lovely combination of richness and vinosity. Impressively thick finish shows fine tannins. 91 points |
