(Domaine de la Pousse D'Or Corton Clos du Roi) Good deep red with ruby highlights. Very complex nose combines black cherry, licorice, minerals and game, along with a whiff of the warm, loamy tones shown by several of these 2006s. Big, rich, chewy and full but with the added vibrancy brought by this higher-altitude site. Finishes long and vibrant, with a palate-coating density, a flavor of licorice and attractive spicy lift. Landanger noted that usually the Bressandes is the more generous Corton here but it's the other way around in 2006. (89-92) points |
