2007-07-26 01:15 | WS: Subtle aromas of blackberries, flowers, berries and perfume follow through to a full-bodied palate, with lots of pretty berry character and a long, long finish. All in finesse. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Best after 2008. 850 cases made. –JS |
2007-07-26 01:15 | WA: The 2003 Nambrot offers a profile of blueberries intermingled with toasted oak notes but the fruit is jammier and the texture more generous and opulent. Ultimately its balance is somewhat compromised by the hard tannins that clip the finish, most likely a combination of new oak and unripe tannins from the fruit itself. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2013. Importer: Henriot Inc, New York, NY; tel. (212) 605 6706 |
2007-07-26 01:16 | IWC: By Ian D'Agata Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Sep/Oct 06 (a blend of 60% merlot, 25% cabernets sauvignon and franc, and 15% petit verdot) Black ruby. Dark cherry, cumin and mocha on the expressive, floral, petit verdot-inflected nose. Densely packed, but penetrating and precise, with fine-grained, ripe tannins. As concentrated and dense as this is, firm acids and a bright floral character give it great clarity and life. This impressively long, smooth, complex '03 owes much to the high percentage of petit verdot in the blend, which unlike merlot was right at home in this heat-wave vintage. 91 points |
