Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Issue #116, September/October 2004)
(Bodegas y Vinedos Vega Sicilia Tinto Valbuena Ribera del Duero) ($150) Medium ruby. Shy nose opened with aeration to show raspberry, coffee, minerals, tobacco, truffle and smoke. Rather suave in texture, with good sappy depth of flavor, but not yet expressive or sweet in the mouth. Best today on the expanding back end, which features a strong minerally flavor and firm, chewy, youthfully tough tannins. 89(+?) points |
