Noteringar:
2008-01-26 00:45 IWC: By Josh Raynolds Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Issue #133, July/August 2007) (Penfolds Wines Shiraz Magill Estate South Australia) ($53) Dark ruby. Ripe raspberry and cherry on the nose, with exotic vanillin oak, incense and Asian spices adding complexity. Deep, luscious and sweet, showing a range of spicy red and dark fruit flavors underscored by mocha, floral pastille and baking spices. Juicy red berry preserve notes build on the long, juicy finish, which is gently firmed by suave, harmonious tannins. Give this some decanter time if you plan on drinking it young. 92 points
2008-01-26 00:45 WA: The 2004 Shiraz “Magill Estate” is a single vineyard offering which spent 13 months in French and American oak, 90% new. It delivers a splendid nose of smoke, pencil lead, violets, blueberry, and blackberry. Supple textured and seamless, it has loads of flavor, terrific depth, and a long, pure finish. Allow 3-4 years for the wine to unfold and drink it through 2024. Penfolds, arguably Australia’s most famous winery, continues to perform at a high level under the leadership of Head Winemaker, Peter Gago. Importer: Southcorp Wines USA; www.penfolds.com.au Also tasted: 2006 Chardonnay “Thomas Hyland” (84), 2004 Shiraz “Bin 128” Coonawarra (84)
