Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Issue #135, November/December 2007)
(Brundlmayer Riesling Zobinger Heiligenstein Alte Reben) ($74; 14.5% alcohol) Medium yellow-green. A soft veil of smoky spice wafts over aromas of tropical fruit, yellow peach, quince and raisin on the complex nose. Quite powerful and rich in extract, with juicy stone fruit flavors framed and lifted by elegant acidity. This wine is still quite taut and nervy and will require more maturation before it fully blossoms in the bottle. The long finish is laced with lemon. Drink 2010 to 2018+. 93 points |
