By Stephen Tanzer
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Issue #131, March/April 2007)
(Miles Mossop Wines Max Dry Red Wine Coastal Region) ($35; 56% cabernet sauvignon, 22% merlot and 22% petit verdot) Good deep ruby-red. Black and red cherry, mulberry, flowers, spices and licorice on the slightly austere nose. Broad, supple and elegant, with a youthful cabernet austerity to the flavors of redcurrant, mulberry, graphite and dried flowers. Not yet especially complex but that will come. Stylish, serious and young wine, in need of at least three years of patience. Tannins are ripe and dusty. Miles Mossop is the winemaker for Tokara. (Cape Classics, New York, NY) 90(+?) points |
