($13) Pale straw color. Fresh stone fruits, Granny Smith apple and a more exotic hint on the nose. Then juicy, vinous and penetrating, with very good clarity and intensity to the fruit and spice flavors. Finishes with a hint of gooseberry and sneaky length. Youthful, dense and persistent. (I found the 2005 to have more riesling-like minerality and soil character, as well as a lusher mouthfeel supported by ripe, nervy acidity; this vintage rated 89 points.) 88 points |
