WA: One of the stars of the vintage, the 2009 Vacqueyras Le Clos is an equal part blend of Grenache and Syrah that is aged in cement tank prior to bottling. Explosive aromas of incense, ground pepper, blackberries and cassis emerge from this inky/ruby/purple-colored wine. Full-bodied and opulent with terrific fruit intensity, a big, broad cascade of fruit flows across the palate without a hard edge. This superb Vacqueyras can be drunk over the next decade. Bravo!

Domaine Montirius, a top-flight estate located on the Garrigue Plateau in the village of Sarrians, has approximately 78 acres from which they produce two terrific examples of Vacqueyras. Moreover, all of their vineyards have been biodynamically farmed since 1999.
