Noteringar:
2007-12-08 02:34 WS: Luscious blueberry and black plum flavors mingle with espresso and anise notes in this expressive red. The tannins are firm yet well-integrated, balanced by lively acidity. Drink now through 2016. 125 cases imported. –TM
2007-12-08 02:34 WA: The 2004 Aurus is 85% Tempranillo and 15% Graciano from 60-year-old vineyards with tiny yields. It was barrel fermented and aged in 100% new French oak. A saturated purple, the wine is currently more reticent than the Calvario aromatically although the same elements are present. The wine is still a baby, with lots of fat, sweet, layered, mouth-filling fruit, plenty of structure, and a pure, super-long finish. It merits as much as a decade of bottle age and should still be drinking well two decades from now. Kudos to Finca Allende for a magnificent set of 2004 Riojas! 2007-12-08 02:34 IWC: By Josh Raynolds Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Sep/Oct 07 ($217; 85% tempranillo and 15% graciano) Opaque violet. Smoky cherry and cassis on the nose, with complicating licorice, cinnamon, rose and black tea qualities. Tangy, finely etched red and dark berry flavors display impressive depth and clarity, picking up a zesty cracked pepper character with air. A very fresh Rioja with outstanding finishing sweetness and length. Here's another wine from Allende that has uncanny finesse allied to power. (Fine Estates from Spain, Dedham, MA) 94 points
