Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Issue #129, November/December 2006)
(Vilmart et Cie. Cuvee Grand Cellier D'Or) ($71) Light gold. Exotic, earth-dominated pear and apple nose has a Chablis-like quality, with musky yellow plum and lemon curd nuances emerging with aeration. Nutty and deep, showing a range of citrus and orchard fruit flavors complemented by sweet butter, smoky lees and anise. This smells and tastes like a top-notch, traditionally made white Burgundy. Finishes juicy, focused and long, with a lingering note of brown butter. 92 points |
