(Springfield Estate Life from Stone Sauvignon Blanc Robertson) ($17) Very pale, green-tinged color. Bracing, uncompromising, slightly sweaty aromas of minerals, pepper, curry powder, flint, herbs and anise, with a hint of passion fruit. Densely packed, sharply chiseled and dry, with saline and mineral notes contributing to the impression of austerity. But this chewy, classic, uncompromising sauvignon really stains the palate with energetic pineapple, grapefruit pith and pepper flavor. The alcohol is a modest 12.6%. 91 points |
