WS: A refined, delicate Pomerol, with milk chocolate, berry and tobacco character on the nose. Full-bodied, with ultrasilky tannins. Builds on the long, smoky, fruity, chocolaty finish. Subtle yet structured. Best after 2011. 1,125 cases made. –JS |

WA: Somewhat disappointing, the 2005 Vray Croix de Gay is closed, but exhibits plenty of muscle, a rustic style, meaty, truffle, and licorice characteristics, and astringent, firm tannins. Give it 2-3 years of cellaring, and drink it over the following 15 or more. |

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, May/June 2006, Issue #126
(Chateau Vray Croix de Gay Pomerol) Ruby-red. Reticent but pure aromas of cherry, framboise and crushed blackberry, with a whiff of rye bread. Fat and rich but a bit inky, with a distinct coolness to its crushed berry character. Not yet expressive but has freshness and stuffing. Finishes with broad, dusty tannins and good persistence.
