WS: A big, brawny style, with a loamy structure supporting the dark currant, tar, cocoa, and fig paste flavors. Long and muscular on the finish, this needs to stretch out a bit in the cellar, though the fleshiness makes it hard to resist now. Best from 2008 through 2012. 5,000 cases made. –JM |

WA: The 2005 Crozes-Hermitage has a slightly deeper ruby color than the 2004 and exhibits licorice, black currant, and sweet cherry notes intermixed with some underbrush, forest floor, and pepper. The wine has excellent texture, medium body, but remains somewhat monolithic and reserved. Given the fact that Graillot’s wines often show better out of bottle than barrel, I suspect this wine will put on weight and be even more enticing with time.
