Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Issue #137, March/April 2008)
(Vina Casa Silva Quinta Generacion Tinto Colchagua Valley) ($28) Deep ruby. Complex aromas of dark berries, resinous herbs, dried flowers and minerals offer excellent focus. Silky in texture, with deep blackcurrant and bitter cherry flavors, gentle tannins and a fresh, energetic finish. Balanced to age but delicious already. 90 points |

WA: The 2004 Quinta Generacion Red is made up of 40% Carmenere, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Shiraz, and 5% Petit Verdot. Purple/black in color, it offers a nose of vanilla, cedar, spice box, blueberry, and black currant. On the palate the wine is ripe and elegant but could use more depth while the finish is slightly compact.
