Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, May/June 2006, Issue #126
(Chateau Pibran Pauillac) (a 65/35 blend of cabernet sauvignon and merlot) Good medium ruby. High-pitched aromas of cassis, black raspberry, licorice and flowers. Offers good sweetness and density in the mouth, with lovely purity of flavor and definition for this Pauillac. Finishes with chewy tannins and atypical power. A good showing. (87-89) points |

WS: There's such beauty to this, with mineral, currant, black licorice and berry on the nose. Full-bodied, with supervelvety tannins and a long, long finish. The best Pibran in a long time. Best after 2012. 4,500 cases made. –JS |

WA: Space limitations did not allow complete tasting notes for this Cru Bourgeois, but 2005 is the finest vintage for these wines since 1982. The range of scores for these wines should give readers an idea of just how consistent this vintage is at this level. Given the style of the vintage, most of these wines should be accessible young yet evolve for a decade or more because of their concentration and tannic structure. |
