Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Issue #135, November/December 2007)
(Au Bon Climat Pinot Noir Knox-Alexander Santa Maria Valley) ($45) Deep red. Open, seductive aromas suggest red and dark berries, mocha and anise. Fleshy, deeply concentrated raspberry and blackberry on the palate, with supple tannins adding structure and carrying into the finish. Leaves a sappy echo of dark berry preserves behind, which slowly envelop the tannins. I suspect that this will reward cellaring but it's delicious now. 91 points |
