Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Issue #135, November/December 2007)
(Ridge Vineyards Santa Cruz Mountains) ($35; 51% cabernet sauvignon, 47% merlot and 1% each petit verdot and cabernet franc) Medium red. Subtly minty redcurrant and cherry on the nose, with suave chocolate and espresso adding depth. Tightly wound red fruit flavors are gently spicy, with dusty tannins adding grip. Pretty restrained today, finishing with hints of tangy redcurrant and wild strawberry. This is extremely slow to open. 88(+?) points |
