Noteringar:
2008-02-27 00:09 IWC: By Ian D'Agata Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Issue #133, July/August 2007) (Castello di Fonterutoli Siepi Toscana Rosso) ($100; a merlot/sangiovese blend) Saturated black-ruby. Typical Siepi nose of black plum, black pepper, espresso and vanilla-caramel oak. More dark chocolate and coffee in the mouth, with a sweetening influence of ripe black cherry. Fat, layered and finely tannic. A bit more acid spine might have given this more detail, but it ranks as one of the more refined Siepis I remember at a similar stage of development. 2008-03-03 12:23 WS: Has lots of berry, coffee and spice character, with hints of black licorice. Full-bodied, with rich, chewy tannins and loads of chocolate, coffee and berry character. Lasts for minutes on the palate. Big and broad-shouldered. This is the best Siepi since its first vintage. Sangiovese and Merlot. Best after 2008. 2,500 cases made. –JS 94 points
2008-03-03 12:23 WA: Fonterutoli’s Siepi is the most successful of these 2004s. A blend of equal parts Sangiovese and Merlot, it opens with a perfumed nose followed by layers of sweet dark fruit and toasted oak notes, showing notable persistence on the palate and a stylish personality. It saw 18 months’ aging in small French oak, 70% of which was new. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2024. Importer: Palm Bay Imports, Boca Raton, FL; tel. (561) 362-9642 91 points
