2007-10-26 01:10 WA: The dark purple-colored 2005 Gigondas Valbelle has fabulous intensity, beautiful floral and blackberry notes intermixed with licorice, smoke, and a hint of pain grille. The wine has sensational texture and a full-bodied mouthfeel. A stunningly long finish lasts just over 40 seconds. Readers should keep in mind that the young, talented proprietor Louis Barruol produces negociant wines under the label Saint-Cosme. and all the estate wines appear under the label Chateau Saint-Cosme. In theory, the only estate wines are the three cuvees of Gigondas. 2007-10-26 01:10 IWC: By Josh Raynolds Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Jan/Feb 07 Inky violet. Strong licorice and espresso notes accent spiced cherry and cassis on the nose. Muscular flavors of dark fruits, espresso and tobacco are framed by solid tannins that dominate the wine's finish today. There's outstanding material here and I'm looking forward to seeing it after it has had some cellar time. 92-95 points
